To the publishers of the Guardian

You should be ashamed of publishing such nasty, dishonest hit pieces as the one linked above. This is a shoddy, name-dropping and cowardly little piece. I would not expect to see this sort of ideologically-driven public sliming in any publication with the slightest shred of dignity or decency. Observe the celebrity name-dropping to get the reader's attention, followed by the smear of the author and, explicitly, the celebrities themselves. This is the journalistic equivalent of inviting oneself to an exclusive dinner party and then gleefully wiping one's feet on the rug. If people of achievement and wealth value Ayn Rand's work can you not report that fact without putting words into their mouths? If their estimate of Rand's work is in conflict with the author's opinion, what concern is that to anyone besides the author? When John Crace has earned a name for himself, his opinion of Rand may be solicited, but until that very unlikely day, he should keep his tripe out of the Guardian. -Richard Gleaves

I was impressed by the TLC show, I think they did a nice keeping some traditional elements of the pageant alluring, while showing that it isn't an archaic Joan Clever-esque display of objectification. Flat out, they were made to show eclectic intelligence and talent, and their motives are not to be hot, they just happened to be attractive people with ambition. AND . . . this is coming from someone who would personally compete in a pageant, just trying to be objective. I went to the site on TLC and there are all sorts of fun things to do that correspond to the show, I wouldn't even call it a TiVo-er.

Nonsense. We now know Jett was taking a drug called Depakote, a strong anti-seizure medication. There have been reports Travolta refused to give his son anti-seizure meds because of Scientology but those stories are not true.
